Marton Swim Camp
In 2005, nine of our competitive swimmers took the opportunity to go to
the club's swim camp. Over the course of the three days and two nights
they swam 15km, studied nutrition and new swimming techniques, did some
cross training, played, rested, and visited the Amazing Maze at night.
The aim of the camp was to use some intensive training to help give the
swimmers the skills they needed to improve their capabilities over the
coming months.
The average day was as follows:
- get up early
- swim, run or skate to the pool
- swim 3.5 km (focus on selected strokes)
- swim, run or skate back
- tidy room/room inspection
- breakfast
- fill in swimming log books
- team session (eg swim techniques, nutrition)
- free time
- lunch
- swim, run or skate to the pool
- swim 1.5 km (focus on selected strokes)
- swim, run or skate back
- fill in swimming log books
- free time
- team session (including a beep test on one of the days)
- tea
- television time (including a trip to the Amazing Maze)
- bed
