Daleks - the Good Guys

Pictures that never made it even to the BBC fanpander web-pages

First a picture from the history archives...

Daleks evolving

Typical blatant prejudice, isn't it.

Daleks have had a bad press. Supposedly, their emotional spectrum ranges the entire gamut from Terminate to Exterminate. They only have one hobby, pyrotechnics. There are myths (they can't climb stairs) and counter myths (why climb when you can level the building.)

This is all propaganda cranked out by Time Lords Inc,  a subsidiary of "Gallifrey Clocks and Antique Timepieces (excluding Grandfathers) Planetary Enterprises".

In actual fact, Daleks are a fun loving, culturally sensitive species. Naturally, they attract some adverse publicity. But as they say: "We are not psychotic killers. Exterminating all other species deliberately is what humans are doing without a coherent plan."

Below are some examples of their softer side, when they are not  leveling playing fields.

A scene from a Reality TV show. They love competitive cooking  (but no squid rings).

And some like to get bit parts in movies.
For instance: a still from Casino Royale. From a specialized 'Director's Cut' for one of those odd region DVDs.  The 'Beyond Mars' one springs to mind.
Casino Royale Dalek
Don't snigger about the 'Mars to Pluto' DVD region.  According to New Scientist ( 17 Sept 2011, p 64), music is being copyright protected "for the world and solar system". But that case was for 16th Century Mexican music, so maybe it only applies to Aztec pyramid linked Catholic religious works. Perhaps not. Who reads legal small print written in Latin anyway? Cave emptor, OK.

Their altruistic side...
Here is an example of how they like to work with young people, building their confidence, and getting them to imitate Daleks as iconic Titans.

The common firstname "Cuzn" means Copper-Zinc, a reference to the early brass exo-skeletons. Maudlin nostalgia is so typically Dalek.

Images were taken from the net and it can be difficult to trace the creators. Some Dalek pictures do originate with the BBC but others seem to be copies based on televised versions. In the end, they are all jumbled together. I particularly liked a Series 5 image which I eventually traced to "The Doctor Who" site but that poster does not seem to be available any more. Where they got their images of Daleks from I do not know. It became the centre piece of the Fifth Dimension "Dock around the Clock" picture. In contrast, the heptakis tile image that formed the basis for the Lattice Traction image is well documented. Go to Rocchini's wiki page for details. We are not a commercial site. All usage is simply taking pleasure in daleks, who have become a cultural icon. (As has James Bond, The Mario Bros., and the space-wheel from 2001.)
