In 1971 a group of women gathered weekly in homes to share their love of spinning. After several months, and as the group grew, it was decided to formalise the meetings.
The group named themselves Upper Hutt Spinners & Weavers. From those small beginnings the members have, over the years, passed their knowledge on by teaching and encouraging people to spin, knit, weave.
