Since
we are known as Station 94, all our fleet numbers are numerically prefixed
with 94. Each vehicle is numbered to reflect its type/capability. There
are six fire trucks in our fleet, and apart from our I.C.P. vehicle and
the tanker, all vehicles are 4WD. Three of these vehicles carry at least
one Wajax pump, suction hose, hydro blender, forestry hose and couplings,
hand tools, portable radios, a crew boss pack, and a pump pack with gear
to set up and run a Wajax. The fourth is our new smoke chaser with a tank,
a fixed pump, reel, hose and couplings, and hand tools.
Below are the links to thumb nails of each of our vehicles. Those shown as Retired, have been replaced/made obsolete/sold, and are seen on the Fleet Archive Page. 941 Heavy pump International.....

Fleet Archive These vehicles are now no longer part of our fleet, but for curiosity's sake and for historical purposes, they are shown in the Fleet folder 9472 - Toyota Hi-Lux This two-seater 4WD carried a 200 litre tank c/w its own pump and reel, capable of also delivering foam. It was designed to quickly scout any smoke seen, and attack small out-breaks. Donated to the fire force by the Wellington Regional Council, and equipped by us, it has never had a chance to be painted red. The yellow tank and gear was supplied by the Upper Hutt City Council to replace old equipment. Retired Mid 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 941 - International Our on road heavy pumper (Waterous) generally carried (near side - L) waterway gear, short and full lengths of 75mm and forestry hose, road beacons, signage, foam/soap capsules; And (off side - R) were generator, lights and power cables, and hoses packs. The rear has the high pressure hose, a Wajax pump, two road hose ramps, while in the lockers - flaked 75mm hose, spare two and four stroke petrol, chain saw, rega packs, helicopter sling and stretcher, rescue ropes/harnesses & karabiners, suction hose, and tools. On the top of the 200gal/900 litre tank is a locker of hand fire fighting tools, the ladder and monitor. Retired Mid 2002 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
942 - Toyota Hi-Lux This older 4WD, also in part donated to the force, had a more versatile role for the force. It carries a crew of up to five and also a volume pump which can be transported, off road, to a water source: Parked in the middle of a stream and operated in place, or the pump can be taken off, to be set up as our base pump. If unloaded, the vehicle is regularly used to transport equipment and crews to and from an incident. It also is used for our promotional and public activities. Retired Mid 2002 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
943 - Series 2 Landrover An old work horse, due for replacement, this vehicle is probably our "all terrain vehicle". Powered by a 6 cylinder Holden motor, she is slow but nearly unstoppable. (Web master's favourite.) The Triple Traction cross-ply tyres finally had to be replaced with radial tyres reducing its off road versatility somewhat. Retired Early 2002 |
