Thought about becoming a Volunteer Rural Fire Fighter?
If you meet the eligibility requirements below, and depending on the vacancy levels at the time, this might be the time for you to act.
You must be: At least 18 years of age; Medically and Physically fit; be a New Zealand Citizen or have the right of residence.
Preferably residing or working within Upper Hutt, New Zealand; Willing to consent to a New Zealand Police security check, and have no criminal convictions; Able to attend regular drill (Wednesday nights, 7 -10pm) at - Station 94, Park Street, Upper Hutt; Able to read and write legible English and properly respond to verbal commands, |

If
you meet the above requirements and you want to know what happens next?
You will be required to return your application along with: A certified copy of your birth certificate or proof of New Zealand Citizenship or right of residence in NZ, and Two character references.
It is essential that these be produced as soon as possible so that your application can be processed .
The next stage is an interview with the Officer in Charge (or his delegate) to assess your suitability for the force. You will be invited to attend a normal drill night (7pm Wednesday) so you can experience the requirements of a volunteer fire fighter. You may be required to pass a general medical examination at no cost to you. You will also be required to undergo a mandatory Police security check.
