Upper Hutt Rural Fire Force
Introduction
The Force is under the control of the Upper Hutt City Council. We not only respond to rural incidents for the second largest territory city in New Zealand, but also provide back up support to our fellow fire fighters in the surrounding areas as part of the Co-ordinated Incident Management System.
The Force is registered with the National Rural Fire Authority as a Volunteer Rural Fire Force, who have the responsibility for fire control in the rural areas of New Zealand, on an equal level with the New Zealand Fire Service, who have the responsibility for fire control in the urban areas of New Zealand.
