About us

We are a group of community minded women assisting local groups working for the welfare of women and children in Upper Hutt. We combine with S.I. Lower Hutt to support the Women’s Refuge, the Teen Parent programme and occasional individual sponsorships.

We share meetings, social activities, seminars and conferences with the other 7 clubs within the Central Region of New Zealand. Members can also attend the biennial International Conferences of the South West Pacific Federation.  We support the Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship  Trust which enables women returning to the workforce to undertake tertiary study within New Zealand.

Every four years the club contributes to an International Project - the current project is Project Sierra. Soroptimist International is also one of the five women’s organisations involved in Project Five 0 which supports vocational training for women in developing countries.
