The Sir Charles Burns Trust was established in 1982 to provide supported accommodation to people with alcohol and drug related problems and is run by a Board of Trustees who have responsibility for the day to day management of The Trust.

The Trust Co-ordinator is a qualified alcohol and drug counsellor who has worked in the field of residential care since 1985.

The Trust operates two five bedroom houses, providing single bedroom accommodation, with shared living and kitchen facilities. The Trust also has 3x1 bedroom self-contained flats, which are employed as a further step towards independent living.

Services are targeted at people who have completed an alcohol and drug treatment programme and are looking for a safe, supportive alcohol and drug free environment in which to live prior to independent living.

There is also a provision to accommodate people with short term needs or those waiting to enter a residential treatment programme. Consideration will also be given to people who have been "stood down" from a residential treatment programme.

The Trust aims to work as closely as possible with outpatient services to assist residents in reaching their goals.
