What is LIONS? We are an international voluntary community service organisation which creates understanding between peoples by taking an interest in civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
We are a non-political, non-partisan grouping which can been seen at work in the community in many different ways. For example in Upper Hutt we operate a food caravan at many events with the proceeds going back into the community.
Specific events we are involved with include the Upper Hutt Sports Awards ; Room at the Inn ; Karapoti Classic ; Summer Carnival ; jousting tournament ; helping with many street appeals.
We focus on helping Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind ; youth related projects ; other sectors of peole with disabilities.
We also promote friendship and fun amongst members and those groups that we work with and help.
