Training
Training comes in many different forms. The most commonly used form is during a ride day where we usually buddy you up with a more experienced sidewalker so that you get the hands on experience that you need to assist us with our riders and/or horses.

If you would like to undertake more formal training, this is easy to organise too. Formal training is in the form of unit standards : from horsemastership to paddock management, to planning a riding programme, to recognising stress in RDA horses. These unit standards are taught and assessed by in-house trainers who are part of the National Training Team.
NZRDA (our National body) sets courses throughout the year at various venues throughout New Zealand. These are published in the quarterly NZRDA newsletter.

If you would like to undertake this more formal training, please inform the instructor on the day she will pass on your details to the Chief Instructor who will talk to you about your training requirements and set you up on a formal training path.
We also do workshops on-site as time and need allow. These workshops can reflect the unit standards - they can also be used for interest.
