Rules and Safety



A REMINDER FOR RIDERS AND VOLUNTEERS.

We would appreciate it if you would phone us and let us know if you are unable to make it to a ride day.

Clothing Required by Rider

DO'S:
  • Wear long pants that are comfortable, preferably track pants or jodhpurs
  • Dress appropriately for the weather. ie... Warm clothing in winter, cooler for the summer
  • Solid shoes or gumboots, with heels. No big ripple soles
  • Come prepared with sunscreen or insect repellent if needed
  • Please make sure hair is suitably tied for the rider to wear a helmet
DONT'S:
  • Jeans are not suitable, as they restrict the riders leg movements, and in some cases, can cause skin damage
  • Too many layers restrict arm movement, and bulky jackets do not allow clear view of the riders seat and trunk position on the horse
  • Open toed shoes/sandals are not acceptable

Required by Support Person

DO's:
  • Wear suitable clothing and footwear suitable for walking next to the horse ie...closed shoes
  • Please notify coach of any problems prior to ride, that may effect the ride
  • Please notify if unable to attend a ride.
DONTS:
  • No loose clothing, dangly jewellery, or floppy sunhats
  • Umbrellas are unsuitable around horses

General Rules for Volunteers

  • Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.  Fully enclosed shoes are a must
  • Do not leave footwear or items on the club room floor where they may serve as a tripping hazard
  • Do not leave food, hot drinks, sharp objects or toxic items within reach of our riders
  • Please ensure you read the RDA Health and Safety manual
  • Report all incidents/mishaps to the instructor and record in the Accident Register
  • Riding day's are during the school terms
  • Please do not leave long hair untied
