ACCOMMODATION SUPPLEMENT (A/Sup)

Payable to beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries whose income is less than that which would completely  abate an unemployment benefit, are not Housing New Zealand tenants, whose accommodation costs are more than the applicable threshold and whose assets are less than.  Accommodation costs are: total rent  (62% of board which includes food is considered rent) OR the total of mortgage payments, mortgage payment insurance, house (not contents) insurance, rates and essential repairs and maintenance.

To calculate the amount, deduct the threshold (table below) from your accommodation costs, multiply the result by  0.7, round up to the nearest dollar.  The supplement is the lesser of the calculated amount or the maximum (table below).

CHILD DISABILITY ALLOWANCE [CDA]

An allowance of $40.73 per week to parents caring for a child which, because of a physical or mental disability, requires constant care.  The DA and CDA are NOT mutually exclusive - both can be received for the same child.  Again, if you have been declined one because you are getting the other or any reason, please contact us.
