ATC Career Path
Your Journey Starts Here

All cadets start off as new entrants for a few weeks. This is to enable us both to get to know whether the Air Training Corps is for you.
Provided you are 13 you can then be enrolled as a Cadet and be issued with a uniform and a '3822' record of service book.

Those cadets showing leadership skills, have longer service, or older cadets who may not otherwise have been given a chance to go on a junior leaders course can attain the rank of Cadet Leading Air Cadet.

When you have been with the unit for about a year and a half and have reached the age of 15 you will be eligible to spend a week at a military base on a Junior Leaders Course. Completion of this course will qualify you for promotion to Cadet Corporal.

You will also be eligible to apply to go on a Junior Outdoor Leaders Course and, after getting further experience, a Senior Leaders Course. Completion of the Senior Leaders Course qualifies you for promotion to Senior Non Commissioned Officer (SNCO) rank - Cadet Sergeant, Cadet Flight Sergeant and Cadet Warrant Officer.

If you show potential to be commissioned as an adult officer you can be promoted to Cadet Under Officer.
